Clinical Digital Lead

Our client is looking for a Clinical Digital Lead to join their temp, this position is based at their head office in Johannesburg.

The Clinical Digital Lead will support and facilitate best practice and efficiency in the clinical domain by implementing focused clinical digital improvement strategies. This individual will collaborate with the health informatics officer, clinical digital managers/leads, digital advisory boards, physician advisory boards, clinicians and relevant hospital ExCo team members to drive the digitisation strategy.

The incumbent will support the implementation of our client’s electronic medical record system, in each of their facilities by providing training and operational support to medical doctors and other healthcare providers to facilitate the best and safest care that is digitally enabled. The individual will serve as a liaison between clinicians and the Health Informatics and Technology (HIT) Department throughout the project implementation and, thereafter, the maintenance period. The individual will facilitate communications and feedback from and to the HIT Department and the end-users at a facility level by continually garnering feedback, identifying areas for improvement and developing appropriate solutions to address said areas.

The Clinical Digital Lead will ensure the successful implementation and adoption of the EMR platform within all of facilities nationally, ensuring we achieve our clinical digital objectives and the strategy of person centred health and care, which is digitally enabled.

Responsibilities

  • Design solutions to support Health Information Officer needs in line with business requirements and best clinical and information technology practices, while also guiding the clinical and IT departments on methodologies, processes and best practices according to our client’s Enterprise Architecture framework and Information Security principles.

  • Support the roll-out and implementation of EMR across all its facilities from a clinical perspective, to ensure health care providers are onboarded, trained and supported throughout the transition from paper to electronic.

  • Assist in the enrolment and onboarding of doctors and healthcare providers onto the system through the facilitation of various onboarding processes.

  • Continuously focus on troubleshooting to identify potential problems and escalate unresolved queries to the relevant stakeholders.

  • Participate in related project, departmental and team meetings as required.

  • Interact and communicate with Doctors and Health Professionals, assess needs and priorities, document these and prepare and present timeous up to date and current data for communication to Management.

  • Assist in Sigma calls logged to the Health Informatics team.

  • Ensure that minimum requirements are met to determine system readiness, this may include passing certain requirements.

  • Ensure that “downtime” processes are adhered to in line with the Standard Operating Procedures SOP’s) and the training provided in this regard.

  • Drive content development through research, advice from and in collaboration with the Digital Advisory Boards.

  • Participate in end-user-testing, and drive testing of the platform to ensure it meets clinical needs.

  • Drive cross-functional development and testing of content with various stakeholders and teams.

  • Drive change management processes surrounding the transition to a digital platform, support and encourage clinicians through the transition and thus ensure the highest level of user adoption.

  • Keep abreast of current research in health informatics and technology for the benefit of business sustainability, alignment to the highest industry standards to enable the best patient care.

Requirements

  • Clinical degree at NQF level 7 is essential.

  • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa

  • 3-5 years working experience in a clinical environment.

  • Experience in training, coaching and mentoring and providing IT system support to end users.

  • Experience in working on an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
