The Opportunity
We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to provide specialist psychiatric care to patients. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will conduct acute and planned assessments, provide consultations, and work closely with whānau to plan and deliver patient care. This role also involves participation in regional on-call rosters and offers opportunities for leadership and clinical service development.
What will I do?
Conduct bio-psycho-social assessments and provide psychiatric management.
Participate in clinical reviews and offer consultation to multidisciplinary teams.
Provide supervision and mentorship to junior medical staff.
Contribute to workforce development by offering support for clinical training placements.
Participate in strategic planning and service development initiatives aimed at enhancing service quality and patient outcomes.
What will I need?
Postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry and recognition by the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) as a Specialist.
Membership or associate status with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).
A minimum of five years of relevant experience in healthcare since qualifying as a Medical Practitioner.
Proven experience working within a multidisciplinary team and a commitment to biculturalism and Māori health improvement.
A full NZ driver’s license and the ability to engage with patients and their whānau in a culturally appropriate manner.
Desired Experience
Fellowship of the RANZCP (FRANZCP).
Experience working with young people, whānau, and parents in an inpatient setting.
