Registered Nurse - Theatre Scrub

As South Africa’s leading medical recruitment agency, our client is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Registered Nurse Scrub Sister to join our team at our private hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the surgical team during operative procedures in the operating room, ensuring that all equipment and supplies are properly prepared and organized. Additionally, the Registered Nurse/Scrub Sister will be responsible for providing care to patients before, during and after surgery, as well as providing education to patients and their families.


Responsibilities:

  • Work as a part of the surgical team in the operating room, providing surgical assistance as required.

  • Ensure that all equipment, instruments and supplies are properly prepared, sterilized and organized before surgical procedures.

  • Monitor patients before, during and after surgery and provide appropriate care and support.

  • Administer medications and IV fluids as ordered by the physician.

  • Provide education to patients and their families regarding surgical procedures, recovery and discharge instructions.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and surgical procedures.

  • Follow all hospital policies and procedures related to patient care, infection control, and safety.

  • Capacity to implement and maintain standards of health practice required from all accredited bodies and appropriate health legislation

  • Work effectively and cooperatively with others to establish and maintain good working relationships that are mutually beneficial.


Job Requirements:

  • A recognised Degree or Diploma In General Nursing

  • Current Registration with SANC in this discipline

  • A Diploma in Theatre Technique A MUST

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Scrub Sister/Operating Room Nurse.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment, and instruments.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
