The Opportunity

As a Senior Medical Officer in Obstetrics, you will play a crucial role in providing specialist clinical services. This includes both acute and non-acute care for patients, offering consultation and expertise in complex and high-risk pregnancies. You will have opportunities to contribute to service development, clinical leadership, and the supervision and training of registrars and other medical staff. 


What will I do?

  • Provide clinical care, including routine and complex obstetric services.

  • Supervise and train registrars and house officers.

  • Participate in a 1:20 on-call roster for obstetrics and gynaecology, including evening and weekend shifts.

  • Engage in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

  • Contribute to teaching, research, and quality improvement activities within the department.


What will I need?

  • Primary medical degree and specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in obstetrics and gynaecology.

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) or equivalent.

  • Proven experience working in a high-risk obstetrics environment.

  • A commitment to continued professional development and evidence-based practice.

  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to manage conflict and provide guidance to junior staff.


Salary

This position offers a competitive salary based on the ASMS Senior Medical Officer MECA, along with benefits and professional development opportunities.
