Unit Manager Theatre

As the leading medical recruitment agency in South Africa, our client has an exciting opportunity for a Unit Manager - Theatre based in Welkom, South Africa. The Unit Manager - Theatre is to deliver expert nursing care to patients with intricate medical needs within the operating rooms. With a focus on vigilant monitoring, administering medications, coordinating interdisciplinary care, and implementing advanced life support techniques, the nurse strives to achieve optimal patient outcomes and facilitate recovery within the challenging environment of the theatre. As well as the optimal management of human and organizational resources within a structured unit. Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe patient care by meeting set clinical quality standards according to company policies and procedures

  • Manage and mitigate clinical risks in the unit

  • Lead and manage the staff in the unit

  • Manage the unit's operational and capital expenses according to financial and budget guidelines and ensure optimal utilization of resources

  • Manage and actively contribute to a positive patient experience in the hospital

  • Support the achievement of interdepartmental outcomes

  • Manage key stakeholder relations

  • Auditing and accreditation processes

  • Clinical risk management

  • Continuous improvement and quality assurance methodologies

  • Financial management

  • Human resource processes including employee relations

  • Infection prevention and control (IPC) principles and protocols

  • Management of staff productivity

  • Nursing functional knowledge

  • Patient complaint management

  • Relevant nursing legislation

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing

  • Registered with SANC

  • Postgraduate qualification in operating room

  • Nursing education qualification

  • Nursing management qualification

  • At least 5 years professional nursing experience in a hospital

  • 2 - 3 years leadership experience in a hospital

  • Experience in Infection Prevention and Control; Clinical Facilitation

  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
