The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Unit Manager - Theatre to lead our client’s operating theatre department. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the delivery of high-quality nursing care, ensure compliance with professional and ethical standards, and drive service excellence within a collaborative quality assurance framework. You will also play a key role in capacity building, mentoring, and training to elevate the theatre team’s performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage patient acuities and staff skill mix to deliver cost-effective, quality care.

  • Oversee departmental costs, including billing, stock management, and procurement.

  • Ensure accurate and timely compilation of patient files and records.

  • Identify quality improvement opportunities and implement effective strategies and initiatives.

  • Monitor and uphold nursing care standards within a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Provide mentorship, training, and capacity-building support to theatre staff.


Qualifications

  • Diploma in General Nursing or B Cur Degree.

  • Post-basic qualification in Operating Theatre (essential).

  • Nursing management qualification (advantageous).

  • Valid registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a private hospital theatre setting.

  • Proven experience in clinical management.

  • Strong financial acumen and ability to interpret financial data.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer literacy.
